Students and Employees not allowed to use Main St entrance
There are concerns that university employees and students are trying to access campus through the Main Street West entrance. Access through this entrance is not permitted under the picket line protocol between the university and CUPE 3906 (Unit1). The agreement which restricts access to the university campus, safeguards the entry to the hospital for ambulances, patients and healthcare workers and this access must be maintained.
With very few exceptions, vehicular access at Main Street and King Street is limited to those accessing McMaster Hospital only. McMaster faculty members, staff and students, must access campus from either Sterling Street or Cootes Drive entrances. Parking remains open. Plan for extra time to access campus. At times, especially between 8 and 9:30 in the morning these delays can be extensive. To ensure the safety of all individuals, please be patient and remain calm and respectful when managing picket lines or any other disruptions during the strike. Remember that we value and respect every member of our community and seek to find common ground and solutions.
Additional details around strike information and accessing campus can be found on this website, Daily News and McMaster’s social media channels.
